Pastor's Thoughts - April 2020

April 8, 2020

A Thought from Pastor Bryson,

The coronavirus has drastically impacted how we live in 2020. No area of life has remained untouched. The body of Christ, the church, has even had to adjust in how we worship and remain as a community of believers while practicing “social distancing.”

There are those churches who refuse to comply to the social distancing directive as if such a request was an attack on their faith. But this is not a challenge attempting to silence the church, this is a challenge to remain healthy in an attempt to thwart the spread of an incurable disease. Sadly, there have been incidents of a church coming together only to later learn that a number of the members became infected with the coronavirus.

Sunday, April 12th is the highlight of the Christian faith. We will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb. We will not be together as a corporate body, but we will still celebrate via livestreaming, Facebook Live, and by way of conference call. The virus may have impacted our physically gathering together, but it has not silenced our voices nor our worship.

Think for a moment about that day when Jesus rose from the dead. According to Matthew 28:1-6; Mark 16:1-6; Luke 24:1-6; and John 20:1-2, none of the disciples were present at the tomb when Jesus was resurrected. As a fact they were in hiding and when the report of His resurrection was shared with them, they did not believe. It wasn’t until later that the truth of His resurrection sunk in.

The fact that we are not physically gathering does not alter the truth of the gospel. Jesus lives! We are living witnesses of His resurrection and of His saving and keeping power, our lives having been changed and our faith in His ability to help us no matter what, is a witness to the world that HE LIVES!

Be encouraged my brothers and sisters. Our Lord lives and because He lives, we can face today and tomorrow. We will worship on Resurrection Sunday; we will broadcast by whatever means at our disposal that our Savior lives, and He lives in us. Praise be to our mighty God!
