Bulletin Thought

A Thought from Pastor Bryson,

There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

(Proverbs 14:12 NKJV)

It seems as though every morning when we listen to the news there has been another shooting or multiple shootings in our city. Unfortunately these shootings lead to loss of life or life threatening injury. I mentioned to my wife it seems as though we live in the wild wild west. There is no regards concerning the law or just being civil to others.

Proverbs 14:12 bears out the reality of what is happening in our world today. Individuals are doing what they feel is right, but their way of doing things ends in disaster or death. There is no regard for the law of the land or what God is saying to us through His Word. Ignoring the law of the land will land an individual in legal trouble, ignoring God’s Word will land an individual in spiritual trouble with disastrous consequences concerning eternity.

It is not only “unsaved” folk who are walking according to their own way, but there are some who profess to be “saved” who are also doing their own thing. The result is messed up thinking that leads to messed up relationships. Living life according to our own way will just lead to a messed up life. BUT, if we would just walk in submission to Jesus as Lord, our lives, the world we live in would be in a much better condition.

Our responsibility as followers of Jesus Christ is to let the light of Jesus shine through us. The way of Jesus is love, forgiveness, prayer, holy living, always seeking to glorify God, doing God’s will and not our own. To live life otherwise is simply opening the door to chaos, the influence of the evil one.

In spite of how bad things may appear, I remain optimistic because the God I serve is Sovereign. He is able to change the hearts of people if they would only surrender their lives, their will to His. Let each of us who profess Christ do our part to not allow the darkness of the day overtake the space we occupy. Light always overcomes darkness.

Jesus is the way to abundant life now and life everlasting.
