A Thought from Pastor Bryson,

“But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times [of great stress and trouble] will come [difficult days] that will be hard to bear.” (II Timothy 3:1 Amplified)

The Scriptures warn us that in the last days it’s going to be very rough in this old world. Biblically speaking the “last days” refer to the time of the resurrection of Jesus until His Second Coming. Of course, no one knows exactly when He will return, but it is important to understand that we are in the last days.

Every day we see evidence of Scripture being fulfilled. The challenges of life are all around us and there is no indication that the challenges will get any easier. Because of the many challenges of living in this fallen world many are fearful and are without hope. What then are we to do?

Well, for starters, know that God is still sovereign. He is still in control. Remember, through Hs Word He has warned us of the difficulties we will face in life. That being the case let us not be shocked at what we’re seeing, hearing, and even experiencing. Then let us be sure that we are in a relationship with Him and nurturing our souls through Scripture. In John 16:33, Jesus said, “In this world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Obviously, there are many more passages that will help us through the challenging times of life.

One of my favorites is Philippians 4:6-8, please read it in your spare time and meditate on the richness of what is being said in that passage. My favorite author, Max Lucado, recently published a book based on that passage – “Anxious for Nothing – finding calm in a chaotic world.” From that passage, he recommends the following concerning staying calm in the midst of chaos:

Celebrate God’s goodness

Ask God for help

Leave your concerns with Him

Meditate on good things

Yes, it’s rough right now, but let us not forget the Lord is with on this tedious journey and He will see us home. Until we get there, never forget we are being kept by His divine power (1 Peter 1:5).
